From what I've heard, they're more streetable than Tein Flex (what I have). If that's the case which is what I've heard then yea that's dual purpose to me lol. Thanks for letting us know about the shock spacer. Got pics?

sure, because most ride harshness is due to the shock behavior, improper install, or over/under dampening for the springs used. Xidas come from 949 with the proper valving for the springs you get, thats why Emilio is 100% right when he says they will handle daily driving just fine.

As for the improper install, well considering that Teins are mostly for mad street-cred yo!, I wouldn't be wondering if a good number of the installs aren't done correctly at first. Plus, the difference in performance from one shock to the next is not as tightly regulated on lower quality coilovers.

Either way, the issue isn't about dual purpose, its really about offering spacers for ride height adjustment...I don't think that should be part of Emil
io's agenda.

Well I didn't get Flex's because of the street cred. I heard they were a very good coilover to go with and I never heard anything bad about them so I got them. I've been very happy with them and don't regret the purchase. I just appreciate the time and effort Emilio has put into these coilovers so I'm considering them to be my next setup. And IIRC, he does offer something to give the user more clearance. But you have to call and request it. I think I read it on m.net

Emilio offers an extra bushing that is supposed to raise height by 0.4", I have em. They only raised my car 0.25", most likely because my msm is heavier than most miata. Even with the bushings 4.5" rear pinch rail was as high as I could get. With these shock spacers I'm at 5" now.

Considering our cars need rake to handle properly, rear height is important, because it forces use to run our fronts really low.

Sorry, I am not trying to imply you did. I am glad to hear he does! As a matter of fact, I will probably get them myself, I just don't think it should be required.

Well, its not the rake really, its the weight distribution. so at equal height the overall cross-weight and rear/front weight distrubtion would not be so even anymore...hence why you cross weight a car with coilovers and then set your ride height (among shifting around weight) to get your right-left, front-rear (not as important), and cross weight balanced equally.

It's cool, no worries

I have a feeling that's what he was getting at

Early next year I will be ordering a set of MCA's for my car. Murray Coote has all the details of miata's.
Essentially I will be going for max droop so as to almost bind the ball joints, arms and maximum compression using modified rear top hats.

I have bought two sets off him

1st set

2nd set

and you will not find a finer shock unless you want to spend $20,000.

For three way adjustable dampening with cannisters the cost would be around $5-6000.00 USD landed. I am more than happy to help anyone from here with pickups ect.

Here is the companies website

http://www.mcasuspension.com/

I have no vested interest in MCA other than as avery satisfied customer.

I'm assuming max droop is for roadholding on off road rally racing purposes?

Yep, ideally for the car set at ride height you should have 2/3 droop available and 1/3 bump.

I know that the car that won Targa tasmania (Our biggest road course race, see video of miata below, and no the Miata didnt win ourright) several years ago was running rally shocks and all they did was change the spring rate and put shorter springs in and adjust the dampening to suit. the springs werent captive but that doesnt matter as you wont get body roll due springs and swaybars.

Murray will make the stroke length any size you like but I am allways amazed at how supple and compliant road and track race car shocks are.

My miata has some stupid cusco thingies that are about as usefull as a hat full of hairy bumholes. But they have nice red annodised bits one them

here is a lambo on same

and heres a nice domestic argument starter
